March is Disabilities Awareness Month , Famous People and Eye Care

"In 1987 President Ronald Reagan proclaimed March “Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.” The deinstitutionalization movement of the seventies and early eighties had laid the foundation for significant social change, and the presidential proclamation called upon Americans to provide the “encouragement and opportunities” necessary for people with developmental disabilities to reach their potential." Movies and Fellowship

We decided last night that
1. The money we gave Sister Nona for the dinner would be a love gift to Pastor for his anniversary.
2. We would start going to eat out together in April. We will start with Appleby's on Airline Hwy. Some future restaurants for fellowship are: Lagniappe of Zachary, LaMadeline's and Olive Garden.
3. I would find out when and where Green Book is still playing so we can decide on when to go.
4. We will try another time to go for coffee and snack at Southern Grind Cofe.
5. For every place we go we will first meet at the church to consolidate rides for those who have trouble driving at night

I found the next times for the showing of Greenbook.

Keep an eye open for this next movie that our friend who helps with the promotion of inspirational films. I just received a notice about this one today. Sorry, I had to take out the links for it to publish properly from my email.

ABOUT THE MOVIE
The Best of Enemies tells the true story of Ann Atwater, a civil rights leader and Christian in Durham North Carolina who's still fighting against segregated schools - 18 years after Brown vs. the Board of Education. Ann gets talked into being a co-chair on a of a school integration committee with CP Ellis, the local head of the Klan. Naturally, sparks fly. Ann realizes that her anger - while totally justified - is getting her nowhere, so she turns to kindness as the Bible instructs us. And that decision to "love her enemy" changes everything. This official pastor resource site includes a sermon on "how to love your enemies" and clips from the film as visual illustrations.

Sister Peggy Wallace announced that Sisters Supporting Sisters is hosting "Lunch in Your PJs" at Camphor Memorial Methodist Church on April 6, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The theme is "Health, Wellness and Me."
By the way, those photos Peggy took at the anniversary dinner for Sister Bilberry have been uploaded to the previous post.

That's all for now. Oh,  except that you should look over there ⇨ in that sidebar and put your email address in the box that has "FOLLOW BY EMAIL" above it.

God loves you; I love you, and there's nothing you can do about it!

Reminder!

We've had a lot  of things go on this past week with the anniversaries! I have some great pictures that Sister Peggy sent to me. I may have them downloaded to this post sometime tomorrow. It involves getting them from one device to another.

We , the Sisterhood. have meeting tomorrow evening at 6:00PM so please spread the word.

We will return to Southern Grind Cofe another time. Meanwhile, think of the perfect time for most of us to see the movie Green Book together. I had to see it last week but I want to go again with my sisters! No spoilers from me, though!  We will also do late lunch at a place where the majority chooses.
See you Tuesday, March 12 at 6PM!

YSIC,
Kathy Michael

This Week as SISTERS!

Good morning!

We had a productive meeting last month. Our next meeting will be Tuesday March 12. We have a call volunteer but please share the information with all sisters in your contact base whether by call, text, or email.

Also share our next fellowship which is tomorrow at Southern Grind Cofe located at the Scenic Highway and Scotland Avenue/Swan Street crossover. It's in the same location where Brother Sewell's store used to be. at 8418 Scotland Avenue. It is refreshing to have such an outing while supporting this type of business in our community.

Our plan is to meet in the church parking lot first and consolidate for carpooling at 1:15 PM. We are to meet at SGC at 1:30 PM.
While there we can discuss our next outing  to the movies to see The Green Book.

We want to give praises for the planning and implementing of the dinner for First Lady Billberry by Sister Nona Haynes. The Sisterhood members agreed to give a donation for this endeavor. I understand it was a wonderful event. I wish I could have been there, but the folks sent in my place --including my mother --gave wonderful reports!

God loves you; I love you...and there's nothing you can do about it!
See you soon!

Sister Kathy

A Prayer for When You are Battle Weary
By Bobbie Schaeperkoetter
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you. - 2 Chronicles 20:17
Do you feel the tension that seems to permeate the air of this world lately? Things just feel heavy. Hearts are hurting. People are discouraged and dissatisfied. It seems as if this whole world is worn down from struggles and it would be so very easy to just give in to the pull of weariness and discontent.
https://media.swncdn.com/cms/CW/38871-225.jpg
In the middle of the strife and struggles, we can start to feel overwhelmed, worn, and just plain weary. When these feelings come, and they linger far past their welcome, what can we do to keep our heads up? How do we remain hopeful when things just seem so difficult?
Maybe a good place to start is to look at someone else who was weary in the battle and see how they overcame it. In 2 Chronicles 20, Jehoshaphat is facing a multitude that has come against him. He’s going to have to fight his enemies. However, when he seeks God’s battle plan, he sees that it is a little different than the one he might have been considering.
Maybe like Jehoshaphat, God’s plan to overcome our battles looks a little different than ours.
Battle weary friend, we do not need to be overcome by the strife and the difficulties that surround us. Let’s give up our battle plan with all of the fear, worry, discouragement, wobbliness, and struggling that it brings and follow God’s plan instead. We can embrace the peace, hope, and assurance He offers. After all, His record for victory is pretty solid.
Let’s Pray:
Lord, I admit, I am weary. Life is going a million miles an hour and I am just trying to hang on. I am tired and I am afraid when I look to the future and think about all that is coming. Lord, I know You want me to trust You through this. I know You want me to surrender this weariness to You. I surrender now. Fill me with Your strength. Fill me with Your presence. Help me find moments today of rest and rejuvenation. Thank You that You never abandon us in the midst of the battle. Thank you for your everlasting faithfulness. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
