Obituary
A retired teacher with the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, died Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 7:50pm at the Baton Rouge General Hospital in the Butterfly Wing. She was an 82-year-old native and resident of the Scotlandville area in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Viewing and family visitation at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church at 8:30am Friday, May 16, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated Rituals at 9:30am and religious service at 11:00am, to be conducted by the Reverend Jesse B. Bilberry, Jr. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by her two daughters, Marva Elise Stevenson Spears and Dedra Michelle Stevenson, both of Baton Rouge; two sons, the Reverend Byron Charles Stevenson and wife Sonya, of Houston, Texas, and Derwin Earl Stevenson and wife Clarissa, of Baton Rouge; three grandchildren, Claire and Cydney Stevenson, both of Houston, Texas, and Maya Stevenson of Baton Rouge; sister- in-law, Mary Stevenson, of Los Angeles, California; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Stevenson, parents, Charles Earl and Elnora Crawford, Sr., brother, Charles Earl Crawford, Jr. and son-in-law, James M. Spears. She was a deaconess and member of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church. Arrangements by Miller and Daughter Mortuary, Zachary.
