Grads & Retirees' Breakfast emergency

Sisters,

You probably received the news that Sister Wynette is in need of your prayers. Thanks to Sister Drusilla King for being on top of that news for us. *:x lovestruck She was suddenly hospitalized so as you read this, please stop and lift her up in prayer.

Sister Scott is making phone calls for help in the kitchen for the breakfast on Sunday.  We also need to know how many are coming, including Sisterhood members, so we can get an approximate number for buying supplies. Reply to this email if you will be there. Only one grad has sent regrets BUT I haven't heard anything from the rest to say they are coming.

I am checking on the check tomorrow morning so if anyone wants to volunteer to help shop, give me a call at 223-5094.  We also need help with the decorating either Saturday afternoon or Sunday at 7:30AM.

That bag of about six bibles that was left in the office for me had the names of the grads who did not pick theirs up last year. So those will not be in the count of the ones to be purchased.

Whew!
If I forgot to mention anything, please reply.

YSIC,
Kathy

Re: Sisterhood Meeting

Sisters,

I located my calendar and the breakfast is scheduled for the Sunday after our last meeting May-- 18!  *:-O surprise. I took the liberty of making a request to move it back to May 25 which I noticed had no church activities scheduled.

I have attached the agenda I could not print for last evening with what we discussed added and the proposed program we decided on that I sent to Sister Miller on making the request.
Also attached are invitation cards for Sisterhood. Each time a sister attends a meeting as a result of your invitation, with a card with your name on the back, I will put those cards in a hopper and pull for door prizes during a meeting. Is that exciting or what? *:) happy

Thank you all for your cooperation, your prayers, and your smiles.... and remember: Listening is an act of LOVE! *:x lovestruck

YSIC,
Kathy

P.S. If I've inadvertently left anything off please feel free to remind me.  Don't forget to sign up at http://mountpilgrimsisterhood.blogspot.com/

Sisters,

I am looking forward to seeing you tonight at 6pm.
Tonight we will discuss the graduate/retirees' breakfast. I did not hear from volunteers for this event so I would like for each of you to pray over taking this task. We should also briefly discuss the Dallas conference.

We will also have our first in the series of fun unity activities: LISTENING

Please go to our blog at this link: http://mountpilgrimsisterhood.blogspot.com/
On the right side panel scroll down a bit until you see the word "Followers" and click on "Join This Site." Everything posted about Sisterhood will come to your box and you can post comments and questions without filling up each other's boxes.

See you tonight!

Kathy Michael

Vote Results, Unity Exercises and Council Report

Good evening Sisters! Just a few things to fill you in about.
VOTE RESULTS
The sisterhood membership has spoken: Although half of those who voted wanted to have a "Pre-Mothers' Day Banquet" no one was for paying for it 'out-of-pocket' or charging for tickets to help defray the expense. So there will be no banquet this year.  For future voting, I'd like to suggest volunteers for collecting phone call votes from those without Internet/smartphone access. Suggestions for a Mother's Day Banquet for next year are welcome.

The next program we are to prepare for is the Graduates and Retirees Breakfast. Let's have volunteer spear headers by May 3.

UNITY EXERCISES
Whenever there is time at our meetings, we will have these exercises which are fun, insightful and will make us more cognizant of our spiritual 'connectiveness' as sisters in Christ--thus better prepared to be in His walk in unity. The first exercises will be either 'Listening' and I'd like those who have attended BTU to assist with that.

COUNCIL MEETING
  • The Family Life Center and the Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church Complex. No longer will there be the separate entity of the Family Life Center and the Education Center for events. Instead they will fall under the Mount Pilgrim Complex. The prices for rental have changed for both members and non members as well as some policy for use. I will not print those nor the entire price listing here, but I will have the information to share at the next Sisterhood meeting. Of course, they are always available through the FLC office and Sister Miller. We are all supposed to support the center by using it ourselves and encouraging others to use it for weddings, parties and other family events. Applications should be on line soon.  Sister Miller mentioned that although she is interim  director of the FLC she still holds the duties of Pastor's admin assistant ans she appreciates the help of volunteers at the front desk headed by Sister Carolyn Williams.
  • Church Membership: We took a look at  the number of Baptisms over the months and per year with Evangelistic Campaign coming up. Pastor wanted our goal to be to  increase the number and be prepared to Baptize 30 people in the Baptismal font in the FLC.

Invitations Attached are  the cards we discussed at last meeting for those who'd like to print their own.I will have more printed for the next meeting.  If you can print them on card stock or business card paper be sure to put your name on the back. . When someone you've recruited shows at meetings with your name on a card--well, we're going to try to see who does the best with recruiting and have some door prizes available---even if I have to do that for you myself!

Contact Information Sheet  Still need those updates!

Remember that the children are off for Spring break and that Sister Peggy Wallace asked for volunteers to help chaperon the kiddoes as they enjoy their time off in the FLC.

Mother's Day Banquet Poll

Sisters,

Here are the attachments that I promised. Please send the corrections to the contacts list. [Not posted here for obvious privacy reasons so check your emails.]

I will send the Mother's Day Banquet info after I have checked on the budget and get a reply from the third person I asked to volunteer to co-chair with Annette and Sister Nona.

Meanwhile, use either the large or small cards to invite sisters to our next meeting.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have trouble signing up on our web blog page, let me know and I will see if I can add you.

Oh! And speaking of cards, I was trying to include as much as possible in an abbreviated meeting and had Sister Peggy's card at the front of my notebook--yet it still slipped my mind to mention it. So a thousand apologies to Sister Peggy and I have attached her card to share with you all.

ADDENDUM: While  composing this communication, I called the church and sister Lydia has confirmed the $$ cuts. There is $0 for the Mother's Day Banquet $0 for Fellowship and $335 for the graduates/retirees' breakfast. SO--we have some decisions to make concerning the MD Banquet:
  • money needs to be raised by donations or
  • charge  for the MD Banquet with pre-paid tickets,
  • or do not have a MD Banquet this year and prepare for next year.

Kathy Michael
