Last Tuesday's Meeting

If you missed Tuesday's meeting, you missed another good one! For Black Women in History , we looked at a presentation about Ruby Bridges. Did you know the story behind Ms. Bridges attending the William Frantz Elementary School? Did you know there was a test designed to keep her and the six other students who took the test from attending? it was supposed to be too hard but it wasn't.

Did you know that of the six students who took the test,  others went to another nearby white school, two others parents kept their child at the school for Black children and Ruby was the only Black student at William Frantz.

We also discussed other more local desegration stories right here in our community--like why McKinley High School was so important to East Baton Rouge Parish and to Black children in surrounding parishes.

We are going to have an evening dinner together so that the ladies who work during the day can come. Look for the Remind text or email.
We will also attend the next New Venture Theater production.
Our March meeting will be our "Dinner with MawMaw" where we will bring potluck and a favorite young'un for a mini-workshop on etiquette.
